Gamification
PrepAI uses lightweight gamification — points, badges, streaks, and leaderboards — to reward consistent practice and make steady progress feel satisfying. The goal is to nudge the one behaviour that actually matters for interview prep: showing up regularly.
The four mechanics
| Mechanic | What it rewards |
|---|---|
| Points | Activity — completing drills, reviewing code, finishing mock interviews. |
| Badges | Milestones and specific achievements. |
| Streaks | Consecutive days of practice — consistency over intensity. |
| Leaderboards | Friendly comparison with other users. |
Why streaks matter most
Of the four, streaks are the most important. Improvement in interview prep comes from frequency, not heroic single sessions. A daily one-drill habit compounds; a once-a-month cram doesn't. The streak counter is there to make that habit visible and a little bit sticky.
Leaderboards, used wisely
Leaderboards add friendly competition, which motivates some people and stresses others. Treat them as optional flavour: the only person whose progress truly matters is you a week ago. If competition energises you, climb; if it doesn't, ignore it and watch your own dashboard trend.
Keeping it healthy
PrepAI's gamification is intentionally light. Points and badges celebrate progress; they never gate learning behind a grind or pressure you into unhealthy streaks. Miss a day? Start a new streak — the system is a motivator, not a punishment.
FAQ
How do I earn points? By completing drills, giving peer reviews, and finishing mock interviews.
What breaks a streak? A day with no qualifying practice. Just start again the next day.
Are leaderboards mandatory? No — they're a motivational extra, not a requirement.
