Chat rooms

PrepAI's chat rooms are real-time spaces — public or private — where you can discuss problems, coordinate peer mock interviews, and study with others. Interview prep is less lonely and more effective with people, and chat rooms are where that collaboration happens.

Public and private rooms​

  • Public rooms are open study spaces organised by topic or category that anyone can join.
  • Private rooms are invite-based, ideal for a study group or a pair preparing together. You can create a room and optionally set an invite code (or let one be auto-generated).

Real-time messaging​

Messages are delivered in real time, so a room feels like a live conversation rather than a slow forum. You can search rooms, filter by category, and jump into the one that fits what you're working on.

What people use rooms for​

  • Working through a hard drill together when stuck.
  • Pairing for peer mock interviews — agree on a time and format in the room.
  • Sharing resources and discussing approaches to common interview topics.
  • Accountability — a study group keeps your streak alive.

Creating a room​

  1. Open the chat section and choose to create a room.
  2. Give it a name and topic, pick a category, and add a short description.
  3. Choose public or private; for private rooms, set a member limit and (optionally) an invite code.
  4. Share the room with the people you want in it.

Etiquette​

  • Keep public rooms on-topic and welcoming to newcomers.
  • Use private rooms for focused group prep.
  • Treat the room as you would a real study group — be helpful, be specific, and reciprocate.
